Privacy Policy

Comprehensive information regarding hardware telemetry, technical data processing, cookie usage, and your privacy rights under GDPR and international standards.

1. Data Controller Identity

The data controller responsible for the processing of data collected on PC Game Checker (the 'Website') is the technical and editorial team of pcgamechecker.one.

Official privacy contact and GDPR inquiries: contacto@pcgamechecker.one and support@pcgamechecker.one.

We are dedicated to data minimization, user privacy, and strict compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR EU 2016/679), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and applicable international data protection laws.

2. Data Processed and Hardware Telemetry

PC Game Checker is designed as an informational system requirements comparison engine. We distinguish between two technical modes of use:

  • Web Browser Mode (Standard): When browsing game pages and requirement summaries, we process essential technical metadata: your IP address (anonymized in web server logs), User-Agent header (browser type and OS), screen resolution, preferred language, and browser-estimated memory API values.
  • PCGC Agent Mode (Optional Local App): If you choose to download and run our optional Windows agent, the application detects local physical hardware specifications (exact CPU model, core count, clock speed, GPU model, dedicated VRAM, total and available RAM, free storage, system architecture, and real-time temperatures).
  • Local Processing of Metrics: Data gathered by PCGC Agent is evaluated directly on your device via a local loopback interface (127.0.0.1:47831). This hardware data is never sold, never linked to personal profiles, and is strictly used to calculate hardware compatibility against game requirements.
  • Support and Contact Inquiries: If you contact us via email, we process your sender email address, name (if provided), and the content of your message solely to respond to your technical or legal request.

3. Legal Grounds for Processing (Art. 6 GDPR)

We process your data under the following legitimate legal bases:

  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6.1.f GDPR): To maintain server infrastructure security, prevent automated scraping and DDoS attacks (via Cloudflare), diagnose compatibility engine bugs, and optimize content delivery performance.
  • Consent (Art. 6.1.a GDPR): For storing non-essential preference cookies or analytics, which you can accept or withdraw at any time.
  • User Support Requests (Art. 6.1.b GDPR): To process and respond to your direct queries, game bug reports, or customer service tickets.
  • Legal Obligations (Art. 6.1.c GDPR): To satisfy applicable statutory requirements, legal process, or intellectual property takedown notices.

4. Third-Party Integrations and Catalog Sources

Our video game database and system requirements aggregate publicly accessible metadata from verified platforms:

  • Gaming Platforms: Valve Corporation (Steam Storefront API), RAWG Video Games Database API, and itch.io.
  • Security and CDN Provider: Cloudflare Inc., operating as our edge reverse proxy, web application firewall (WAF), and global CDN.
  • When clicking on official outbound store links (such as 'Buy on Steam' or 'View on itch.io'), you enter third-party websites subject to their independent privacy policies and terms.

5. Data Retention

  • Web Access and Security Logs: Automatically rotated and purged every 30 to 90 days, utilized strictly for security audits, crash diagnostics, and anti-abuse monitoring.
  • Support Correspondence: Retained for the duration necessary to resolve your request and up to 12 months thereafter for audit and service quality verification.
  • Local Browser Storage: Search filters, favorited games, and cookie preferences remain stored locally on your device until manually cleared.

6. Your Data Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Under Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR and equivalent consumer privacy regulations, you have the right to:

  • Right of Access: Inquire whether your data is being processed and obtain a copy.
  • Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten'): Request deletion of your contact logs or stored records.
  • Right to Restriction & Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests or request processing limitations.
  • Right to Data Portability: Receive your submitted data in a structured, commonly used format.

To exercise any of these rights, email contacto@pcgamechecker.one with the subject line 'Privacy Rights Request'. We process all requests free of charge within 30 days.

7. Security Safeguards

We enforce enterprise-grade 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption for all web traffic (forced HTTPS), strict security response headers (HSTS, Content Security Policy, X-Frame-Options), Cloudflare threat mitigation, and isolated OS services.
